Our Vision

We accompany parents, like you, in meaningful periods of your life such as during a pregnancy, delivery and early parenthood. We make the latest information available to you through a variety of classes, workshop and lectures to support you in your journey through early parenthood. We provide a safe space for you to share your needs and to ask your questions to our vetted experts. 

Babies Club

Thursdays from 11- 12.30

It takes time to adjust to becoming a parent. Being a new mum is in itself an overwhelming experience, let alone leaving the house and establishing a daily routine.

Having a weekly meet-up organized where you’ll meet new mums in the same boat can really help. So come around to drink some coffee, meet other mums, chat, share and get information on topics such as your child’s development, nutrition, sleep and more!

05/03: Hosted by Mama Coach, MasterMama, who supports (working) mothers through coaching and training to find a way to live a more balanced life and take better care of themselves. In this meeting you will learn about this topic and get helpful tips on how to survive the busy years with (newborn) babies and young children. 

12/03 and 09/04: ‘Babywearing & Sharing Meet-Up’ 

Together with Moments with Mothers and Matka, Adapting to Love hosts a monthly babywearing meet-up with the purpose of building a community and sharing knowledge about babywearing.

Sleep Advice

Mondays from 12:30- 13:30

Ola from Tiny Sleepyhead helps parents solve the sleep issues of children aged 0-6 years old.

Tiny Sleepyhead can help you with frequent night wakening, early rising, rocking, nursing to sleep, no naps and more. The approach we use is customised and tailored to every family. Ola does not use cry-it-out, but gentle techniques which parents are comfortable with. Tiny Sleepyhead brings not only the healthy sleep back, but also smiles to the whole family.

These meetups are free and meant for sharing dilemmas, difficulties and experiences and getting information and support.

We kindly ask you to sign up via: info@matkaamsterdam.nl 24 hrs before the meetup, so we know how many parents to expect.

 

Nouvelles Mamans (FR/EN)

The meet ups take place from 10 -12 on the following dates 29/02, 28/03, 18/04 and 30/05 

Are you pregnant in the Netherlands? Congratulations! ‘Nouvelles Mamans’ is an expat community and support group aimed at making your journey into parenthood just a little bit smoother. ‘Nouvelles Mamans’ hosts monthly events in and around Amsterdam always around a specific theme relevant to pregnancy, birth or early parenting. Meet and connect with other expecting parents, share stories and experiences. It is so important to build a community as you enter this new phase of your life and especially for expats. And don’t stop at our name, we both welcome and encourage the “Nouveaux Papas” (a.k.a New Dads) to join these monthly meet ups.

 

 

 

 

 

BabyBrains: Neuroscience for happy families (EN/IT)

Wednesdays from 15:30- 16:30

Designed by a neuroscientist and mum-of-three Silvia Dalvit Menabe, PhD, endorsed by Prof. Mark Johnson from Cambridge University, UK and held by neuroscientist and doula Valentina Cenedese PhD, this unique science-based parenting course gives you the tools to take on the parenting journey as an exciting adventure.

Knowing about your baby’s brain development will allow you to be a more effective and balanced parent, responding adequately to your child’s unique set of constraints and resources, avoiding frustration due to unrealistic expectations.

Programme

The series of six science-based, fun and interactive workshop will include engaging presentations, games, discussions, Q&A.

Price 

The 6 weeks course is €190 and a one-off workshop costs €40. Please note the price is for 1+1 partner for free. Babies and children under 4 are also welcome to join.

Baby Massage (NL)

Baby’s zijn gevoelig voor liefdevolle aandacht, aanraking en rust. Bij de babymassage zijn deze aspecten volledig met elkaar verweven. Door het directe, fysieke contact begrijp je de lichaamstaal van je baby beter. Je kunt buikkrampjes, verstopping, geprikkeldheid en overstrekken verlichten. Het kan je baby helpen om te ontspannen en langer of dieper te slapen. Babymassage is, zowel voor jou als voor je baby, ontspannend, geeft wederzijds vertrouwen en versterkt jullie onderlinge band. Babymassage betekent met volledige aandacht bij je baby zijn en daarmee is het ook een rustmoment voor jou! Babymassage is genieten voor twee. Bij de cursus babymassage leer je masseren volgens de Shantalababymassage: een eeuwenoude, eenvoudige methode die oorspronkelijk uit India komt. In vijf lessen leer je de Shantalababymassage stap voor stap aan zodat je deze gemakkelijk thuis kunt toepassen. Je krijgt een boekje waarin je alles wat je geleerd hebt na kunt lezen.

Deze cursus is voor baby’s die bij aanvang van de cursus tussen de 2 t/m 6 maanden oud zijn (in overleg ook ouder of jonger) en wordt gegeven door Mirjam Vos, die al meer dan 25 jaar cursussen voor baby’ s, ouders en aanstaande ouders geef.

Kosten € 110 Inclusief olie en een boekje waarin je de massage kunt nalezen.

Hypnobirthing Course

The HypnoBirthing course takes place from 14:30-17:00 on the following dates: 22/02, 29/02 and 07/03

Programme

The programme consists of deep relaxation, special breathing techniques, self-hypnosis, massage techniques, visualizations, affirmations, and education that support you throughout the whole pregnancy and are there to use during labor and birth. The classes also offer the opportunity to prepare an individualized birth plan.

Why HypnoBirthing?

  • Eliminates the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome before, during and after birthing
  • Reduces, often eliminates, the need for chemical anesthesia, episiotomy and other interventions
  • Lessens fatigue during labor
  • Reduces risk of pelvic floor damage by using breathing techniques rather than pushing
  • The birthing companion is an integral part of the birthing, not an onlooker
  • Babies are better adjusted and happier, resulting in better eating and sleeping routines

Kasia is registered with Hypnobirthing Vereniging BE & NL, recognized by insurance providers who reimburse Hypnobirthing courses. If miss a session, we can arrange a make-up session for Euro 80 (inc. Mindful birthing Course

The mindful birthing course takes place Thursday evenings from 18:30 to 21:00 on the following dates: 19, 26 March, 2, 9, 16 April

Programme

This 5-week course offers a combination of childbirth education, information and plenty of hands-on tools and mindfulness practices. You will learn a variety of techniques to help you engage the mind and body to deal with the intensity of labour

Course structure

Classes include:  

  • The physiology of childbirth
  • Mind-body awareness practices and hand-on practices to work with pain during labor
  • Positions for birthing and increased awareness of breath
  • Breastfeeding and parenting a newborn
  • Participants learn mindfulness meditation as a self-regulation approach to the physical and emotional challenges of pregnancy, birth and parenting.

You will:

  • Access deep physical and mental relaxation
  • Learn to engage the mind to work with pain during labor
  • Increase confidence and trust for the experience of labor and delivery
  • Practice prenatal yoga for strength and flexibility
  • Develop skills for managing stress in pregnancy, parenting and daily life and enhance partner communication skills

Price:  Price per couple: 325 Euros

I really loved the messy play experience!! It’s the perfect opportunity for little ones to interact with other little ones and get messy in a safe environment while parents can take a small break.
