Tune in to your body, your breath and connect with your baby and your community. Learn how to stay calm and present during this special moment in life. We are often unaware/detached of our primal instincts and sometimes need a reminder of what we already know deep down inside. For a lot of women that reminder can be prenatal Yoga.
In our Prenatal Yoga course we help you to learn to connect to your changing body, your baby and to other women who are going through these same changes. During this time it’s important to have a place to share your worries, thoughts and pains, knowing you are not the only one going through this. In our classes we focus on uncovering hidden sources of stamina and maximizing hip flexibility. These physical practices will prepare your body to give birth, but often the awareness of body, mind and breath is what truly helps during labor. Doing prenatal Yoga can also help you reconsider the temptation to overdo. It reminds you that it’s not just your body now, but you’re sharing it, which means it’s not the time to push yourself.
Doing prenatal yoga doesn’t mean you’ll have the ‘perfect’ birth; it means you’ll be able to accept the perfection of the birth you’re given, regardless of whether it goes according to your plan. Birth is like everything else in life, you don’t always get to choose your circumstances, but you can choose how you react to them.
Our classes will be 90 minutes, after class you are welcome to stay for a chat, a nice cup of tea and a healthy snack. We will offer a 30 minute nutrition class, based on the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda, on how to support yourself and your baby the best you can during your pregnancy.
About the teacher Anne
My parents are yogis and without being consciously aware of it, that’s where it all started. Our parents taught us not by lecturing us, but by being kind, loving people and living a modest, healthy life. Taking care of themselves, of others and of nature. I took a little detour through living a hectic life in the Amsterdam fashion scene, before ending up on the Yoga path.
The last few years I’ve lived in Saigon, Vietnam where I spent most of my time practicing Yoga in the Sivananda Ashram, teaching at my Yoga studio and at my Yoga retreats. After Vietnam I moved to Mexico, where my Yoga teachers live, to teach in their Ayuvedic Yoga Teacher Trainings. I have been studying and teaching Ayurveda for the last few years, which literally translates to the knowledge of life. Ayurveda helps us to see our uniqueness and to find our balance in this life, a balance that is ever fluctuating. One of the biggest changes in a woman’s life is becoming a mom. I am fascinated by this miracle of life and love to help women finding their balance in this beautiful, but challenging time.
Even though I absolutely love sharing the physical Yoga practices, for me that is not the most important teaching of Yoga. Yoga incorporates all aspects of life and everything we practice on the mat is aimed to bring balance, peace and happiness into our daily lives. That is what I hope to bring to my students during my classes.
